Tony Mitchell
A multi award-winning director/producer Tony has recently been the Showrunner on the six-part factual drama series ALEXANDER: THE MAKING OF A GOD for Netflix.
Prior to that his recent credits include the movie RESURRECTION dramatizing the crucifixion of Christ and the days that followed. He also directed two seasons of the contemporary drama series THE BAXTERS for MGM, the movie GRACE & GOLIATH, the Emmy nominated miniseries THE BIBLE for History Channel and the 10 part series A.D. THE BIBLE CONTINUES for NBC. FLOOD was his award-winning feature debut for Lionsgate, starring Tom Hardy, Robert Carlyle, Sir Tom Courtenay, David Suchet & Joanne Whalley.
Other credits include the Emmy nominated drama SUPERVOLCANO, the sci-fi series PRIMEVAL and Emmy winning documentary THREADS OF LIFE for the BBC. ANCIENT EGYPTIANS was his epic four part BAFTA winning factual drama series, while his miniseries NEANDERTHAL was an RTS award winner.
With a reputation for bringing visual ambition and production value to his work, Tony is regularly engaged as a creative consultant on projects that aspire to deliver new forms of storytelling. They include Nat Geo's CGI spectacular EGYPT RISING, Ubisoft's gaming TV hybrid GUILLOTINE, plus the natural history drama PLANET OF THE ANTS.
Born and raised in Toronto he holds both Canadian & UK passports.
